Cash Game vs. Tournaments

More and more people become poker players nowadays due to the high popularity of the game. This is why many of them usually orient towards tournaments, as this is what they see at television. While there are some advantages that tournaments have, cash games can also be a great way for poker players to earn money and experience.

One of the main differences between cash games and tournaments refer to the bankroll: while for cash games it is usually more equilibrated, when it comes to tournaments, the bankroll goes through many fluctuations. Therefore, cash games can be considered to be a safer and reliable path towards increasing the bankroll.

Cash games have another major advantage when it comes to the time one spends with playing poker. While tournaments involve spending a lot of time and concentration, when playing cash games players can simply leave the table anytime they prefer.

Another significant difference between the two game styles is that decision making is based on different variables for each of the two games. While with cash games, each hand is quite independent, the hands you play in tournaments are strongly connected to how the game went so far.
